eBay came to us with one question:
How do we deliver a campaign celebrating sneaker culture rooted in Black history?
Have you been keeping up with eBay's latest Black history month campaign, "The Footprint: The Look At The Sole Of Black Sneaker History"? This groundbreaking campaign, curated by NOMMO, debuted in February 2023 and was all about celebrating the undeniable impact of Black culture on sneaker culture throughout the generations.
With NOMMO's expert curation, scholarly research, and cultural recommendations, "The Footprint" was an authentic and impactful success.
Campaign Outcomes:
A Digital/Social Museum
"The Footprint" was the ultimate digital and social museum dedicated to showcasing the significant contributions of pioneers and trailblazers and their iconic sneakers. Our four narrative chapters seamlessly weave together the stories of these talented individuals and highlight some of the biggest sneaker trends that emerged from Black influence. We firmly believe these pioneers have shaped our sneaker culture and are thrilled to share their inspiring stories with our audience.
Divided into four sections, each representing a different era of Black influence on the sneaker game, "The Footprint" featured an impressive range of talent stories and sneakers that perfectly defined each era. From Dapper Dan to D'Wayne Edwards, Aleali May, and Frank Cooke, the campaign showcased some of the most influential names in the industry. And the sneakers on display were nothing short of impressive, ranging from signed Puma Clyde's, signed by Walt Frazier, to the Aleali May Air Jordan 1 "Satin Shadow" and many more!
Our social/digital museum took our visitors on an immersive journey through the historical significance of each sneaker featured in the game. We aim to educate our audience on the immense impact that each sneaker has had on the world of footwear and why it's essential to remember these iconic designs.
After launching, our content strategy of 100 unique assets across Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter generated 13.3MM+ Video Views and 9MM+ Reach. The series caught the eye of dozens of Streetwear and fashion legends like June Ambrose and Va$htie, whose shares and mentions contributed to 5.6M earned views, 49% share of voice, and 99% positive sentiment. But most importantly, our entire community came together to give credit where it was long overdue by honoring the sole of Black Sneaker History.
